District of Columbia Backflow Certification Requirements

The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority does not issue a backflow certification license. This does not mean that you do not need to be certified to install and test backflow assemblies in DC.
Anyone with a current Maryland backflow certification from Pipeline Training Institute, along with a current Journeyman or Master Plumbing license with DC Water, will have their certification honored.
DC Water has accepted our certification and training program. Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) and the District of Columbia recognize our Maryland State Backflow Certification.
