State of Maryland Backflow Certification Requirements
The Maryland State Plumbing Board requires that anyone who wants to take the Journey or Master Plumbing examination must show current certification as a cross connection / backflow control and testing technician. This requires successful completion of an approved 32 Hour Training course approved by the Maryland State Plumbing Board.

WSSC requires that this certification be current for plumbing license renewal. There is a recertification requirement to maintain current certification that requires the successful completion of 8-hour recertification class every 3 years. Failure to maintain current certification can result in taking the 32-hour training class over.
